Finding the right slogan

I've come across various slogans and I couldn't help but ask myself how the slogans were formed and who even thought of them. The slogans were so appalling and lacked creativity. I have definitely seen slogans I felt were really creative and depicts the intention of the organisation or product but I have seen more bland slogans.

A slogan is a must have for every product or service as they help reinforce an aim as well as letting the public know what the product stands for amongst several others. Your slogan speaks for you so it's a MUST to make it count. When one hears 'just do it' you automatically know it's 'Nike'. Analysing the slogan, it is safe to conclude this slogan meets what Nike stands for as it deals with everything sport.
In choosing the right slogan, certain questions must be asked. Questions like what does the brand stand for? Who are the public?  How do we want to be known? Having answers to these questions will help in coming up with the appropriate slogan.

Also, in finding the right slogan, ensure you put a lot of effort and creative thinking into it. A good slogan is;
1. Short and easy to remember: your slogan does not have to be a paragraph. It should be brief and your audience just be able to see the entire slogan at a glance. Choose something that is easy to remember and also states the intention.

2. Lasting impression: choose a slogan that leaves a lasting impression in the mind of your audience. Your slogan should be something they recollect of they hear it somewhere else.

3. Brand enhancement: your slogan should compliment and strengthen your brand.

4. Differentiate you from other brand: creating your slogan is an opportunity to separate yourself from other similar brands on the market. Your slogan should make your brand stand out and be unique as there are so many brands in the market and it is so easy for a brand to be lost in the crowd.

5. Creative: creativity does not translate to complexity or an unnecessarily verbose statement. It simply means your slogan should not be mediocre. You can't even afford to have boring slogan if you want a successful brand.

Imbibing these few tips in your slogan creation will go a long way in developing a good slogan. What's your favorite slogan? What other tips do you recommend in creating a good slogan?
